In a showcase located in the corridor of the Department of Anthropology and African Studies, treasures from the collection are displayed, often in relation to special events. Currently, the showcase displays the literary work of Dinaw Mengestu (Ethiopia/USA).
The display is part of a series launched in October 2009, featuring "African Literature in the 21st Century". So far, the series has included displays on Fatou Diome (Senegal/France), Chris Abani (Nigeria/USA), Patrice Nganang (Cameroon/USA), Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie (Nigeria/USA), Emmanuel B. Dongala (Republic of the Congo/USA), Meja Mwangi (Kenya/USA), Aminatta Forna (Sierra Leone/UK), Sefi Atta (Nigeria/USA), Paulina Chiziane (Mozambique), Sindiwe Magona (South Africa), Ben R. Mtobwa (Tanzania), Shimmer Chinodya (Zimbabwe), Helon Habila (Nigeria/USA), Maaza Mengiste (Ethiopia/USA), Alain Mabanckou (Republic of the Congo/USA), Tierno Monénembo (Guinea/France), Goretti Kyomuhendo (Uganda/UK), Yejide Kilanko (Nigeria/Canada), Ken Bugul (Senegal/Benin), Teju Cole (Nigeria/USA), Nnedi Okorafor (USA), NoViolet Bulawayo (Zimbabwe/USA), Marguerite Abouet (Côte d’Ivoire/France), Petina Gappah (Zimbabwe/France), and Imbolo Mbue (Cameroon/USA).
